How to Choose a Support Provider

The right provider makes a meaningful difference in outcomes. These are the questions worth asking — of any agency, including us.

Choosing a provider is one of the most important decisions a family or case manager makes. The questions below are designed to help you evaluate any agency honestly — including Servants Mission. Good providers welcome scrutiny. The answers reveal more than the brochure does.

Questions About Staffing

  • What is your staff-to-individual ratio?
  • How do you handle staff turnover? What is your average staff tenure?
  • Are individuals assigned consistent staff, or does staffing rotate frequently?
  • What happens when a primary staff member is unavailable?

Questions About Documentation

  • How do you document services and communicate with case managers?
  • How quickly do you respond to MCO requests and authorizations?
  • What happens if a service cannot be delivered as authorized?

Questions About Fit and Capacity

  • What types of support needs does your agency specialize in?
  • Do you have current capacity, or is there a waitlist?
  • How do you assess whether an individual is a good fit for your model?

Questions About Communication

  • How will we hear from you if something changes?
  • Who is the primary point of contact for families and case managers?
  • What is your process when a concern or incident occurs?

There are no wrong answers to these questions — but vague answers are worth noting. A provider who is thoughtful about fit, staffing, and communication is more likely to offer the stability that long-term support requires.
